What to Do This Weekend Near Norfolk Crossing: Explore the Culture and Cuisine of Louisiana During the 26th Annual Bayou Boogaloo and Cajun Food Festival
June 18, 2015
The countdown is officially on for the Bayou Boogaloo Music and Cajun Food Festival, returning for its 26th season tomorrow, Friday, June 19! A celebration of the cuisines and culture of New Orleans, this three-day event promises to please the palate with Creole and Cajun fare while also offering live music, a marketplace featuring Gulf Coast artists and groceries, and Bayou-themed activities.
Of course, the real draw here is the food, so if you're a fan of gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee, or po'boys, be sure to arrive hungry. You'll even be able to introduce your palate to alligator sausage and turtle soup! And did we mention that the festival will feature 8,000 pounds of fresh Louisiana crawfish? Be sure to conclude your visit with a 30-minute cruise on the Carrie B, a replica of a 19th-century Mississippi paddle wheeler!
The Bayou Boogaloo Music and Cajun Food Festival takes place noon to 10 p.m. Friday, June 19; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 20; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 21. Arrive between noon and 4 p.m. on opening day (Friday) to score complimentary admission. Tickets can be purchased online.
Hope to see you there, Norfolk Crossing!
